Lamon Lanier Cothren, age 73, of Alma passed away April 1, 2024 at Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. He was born October 18, 1950 in Bacon County to the late Purdie Jackson Cothren and Carrie Lou Mobley Cothren.
Mr. Lamon served in the United States Army as was retired from the Bacon County Sherriff's Office.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Haward Cothren, Tony Cothren, Leland Cothren and Albert Spell, sisters, Bonnie Taylor, Juanita Taylor, Yvonne Thompson, Mary Latrell Cothren and Eloise Cothren. Survivors include two children, Rodney Cothren (Glenda) and Rhonda Cothren of Alma; stepchildren, Tony Gibson, Charlie Gibson (Christa), Diane Gibson and Maria Gibson of Alma; brother, James Cothren (Willene) of Brunswick; sisters, Emelyn West of Brunswick, Freda Cooper and Marie Boatright (Ronnie) of Alma; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Owen Atha officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 12:00 PM until service time.
Active pallbearers will be Scotty Boatright, Dalton Boatright, Eric Wrinn, Tony Gibson, Josh Wasden, Matthew Pate and Logan Wasden. The Bacon County Sheriff's Office will serve as honorary escorts.
Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
