Larry Milton Dixon, age 65, of Alma died early Saturday morning February 23, 2013 at South Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Dennis Sylvester Dixon and Eula Mae Deen Dixon. Larry was retired from CSXT after 31 years of employment, owner and operator of Dixon Lube and Tube, a veteran of the Viet Nam War while serving in the U S Army and was a member of New Vision Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Latrelle Taylor Dixon of Alma, a son, Andy Dixon and wife JoElla of Alma, two daughters, Jana Merritt (Wesley) and Julie Lee (Chad) all of Alma, two sisters, Marie Wildes of Alma and Laverne Wheeler of Fitzgerald, five grandchildren, Jaelyn and Jensie Merritt, Cole and Cloe' Lee and Ayla Dixon all of Alma.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 o'clock at New Vision Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. R B Gaskin, Rev. Pet Hayes and Rev. Billy Floyd officiating. The Body will be carried to the church at 10:00 A M Monday to lie in State. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening between 6 and 9 P M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Allen Johnson Sunday School Class at New Vision Church in memory of Larry Dixon.
Active pallbearers will be, Mark and Ryan Gritzke, Jack Wildes, Greg Taylor, Donnie Dyal, Joe Peacock and Ashley Yawn. Honorary will be, members of the Allen Johnson Sunday School Class, the Kudzu Crew, George and Lynette Yearty, Pat and Lynn Tanner, Ronnie and Marilyn Ellis. Benny and Connie Carver.
