LaVada Cothren, age 82, of Alma passed away suddenly at her residence on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 after a short illness. Born on October 1, 1938 in Bacon County to Lemuel Sellers Johnson and Maggie Slaughter Johnson. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Lee "J.L." Cothren, three brothers, Carroll Johnson, Walter Johnson and Ervin Johnson and two sisters, Doris Westberry and Linda Boatright.

Survivors include two children, Leslie Cothren of Alma and Joni Leggett (Stacy) of Baxley; two brothers, Darrell Johnson (Pat) of Barstow, CA. and Roy Johnson (Betty Jo) of Dawsonville; one sister, Annie Merle Johnson of Douglas; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 at Campground Methodist Church Cemetery with Noah Carter officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the cemetery Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
