Lester Lee Simmons, age 75, of Alma passed away December 28, 2024 at Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. He was born June 8, 1949 in Appling County to Lester Buster Simmons and Genevieve Nail Simmons. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Charles Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was a member of New Lacy Church of God and retired Truck Driver. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren; enjoyed donating and spending his time at the local food bank. He also loved helping people in general and enjoyed raising any type of animals imaginable.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Emma Lou Spivey Simmons; three sons, Lee Simmons (Christie), Marc Simmons (Kristy) and Brian Simmons (Stacey); special son, Lewis;  five grandchildren, Laney, Lacey, Logan, Stephen and Eryn Simmons; sister, Mary Hutcheson (David) and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Bishop R. B. Gaskins, Pastor Jeffery Taylor and Pastor Jamey Rivera officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Congregational Church in Baxley. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be Scotty Simmons, Justin Spivey, Terry Moore, Donald Moore, Rusty Sears, Inman Kitchens and Mack Erskine. Honorary pallbearers will be Donna Taylor/Alma Food Bank, Dr. Michael Deen, Alex Santana, Ashley Miles and all others in attendance.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
