Obituary

Linda Lou Jones Edgar, age 80, a native of Alma, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at Sacred Journey Hospice in Henry County. She was the daughter of Jeofry and Emma Jones and was also survived by her daughter Kathy Edgar Owings (Ronnie) and their children Seth and Bethany Owings of McDonough, and her son Sam Edgar (Kay) of Alma and their children Erin Edgar and Leah and their grandson Jackson Palmer, as well as her sister Sara Walker (Ray) and sisters-in-law Marianne Jones, Yvonne Tanner and Evelyn Davis. There are also numerous cousins and nieces and nephews who were special to her.

People will remember Linda for many different reasons. She was an artist, loving wife, caring friend, wonderful grandmother, loving mother-in-law and the best mother possible. To most people she was Linda, to two of us she was Mama, and to a select few she was Bue.

She graduated from BCHS in 1955 and soon after married her high school sweetheart, Bill Edgar. She and Bill owned and operated Edgar's Studio in downtown Alma for over 30 years and Bill Edgar Photography our of their home for 20 years after that. She was an integral part of the business in which she performed art work on the photographs, helped with the posing and handled sales. She received the Photographic Craftsman award, which is a national award given by the Professional Photographers of America in recognition of service to the profession of photography and enjoyed teaching other young photographers the craft of the business. She was actively involved in First Baptist Church of Alma her whole life. She taught a women's class - Win One- for many, many years and also lead and participated in a woman's exercise class for a number of years. But what most people remember about her is the way she made everyone around her feel comfortable and at ease. Her contagious smile won over everyone. Even as Alzheimer's slowly removed her memories and words, she still had a sweet spirit, kind words, and a smile for all.

The viewing will be at Crosby Funeral Home, from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 and the funeral will be at First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017.

Active pallbearers will be Seth Owings, Jiovani Rodriguez, Jimmy Miles, Marshall Streat, Wayd Walker.

The honorary pallbearers are Lynn Nails, Win One Sunday School Class, and her BCHS class of 1955.

Mama had long ago requested that instead of flowers, she would rather have any expressions of love shown by donations to First Baptist Church Alma, Alzheimer's Research Foundation, Alzheimer's Foundation of America or  The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation.

She preferred wearing bright colored clothing, so if anyone wishes to wear pink, purple or other bright colors, please feel free to do so.
