Linda Tanner Rushing, age 79, of Baxley, GA passed away Friday, November 1 at Lakeview Retirement Center. Linda was the daughter of the late James Lee "Jake" Tanner and Betty Tanner Carter.

Linda was also preceded in death by her siblings, Jimmy Tanner and Evelyn Palmer.

Linda lived most of her life in Alma where she was well known as an outstanding Raider basketball player. After graduating in 1963, she became a licensed cosmetologist. At the age of 40, she began a new career when she became a registered nurse and served her community until she retired. As well spoken by Jana Yawn of Lakeview Retirement Center, "...her hands were never idle and she often still tried to care for others even when requiring care herself."

Linda had a servant's heart and took much pride in her work. She was blessed to receive excellent care herself during the last year from Regency Hospice of Vidalia and Lakeview Retirement Center.

Linda is survived by the love of her life, Troy R. Rushing, of Baxley. The two recently celebrated their 53rd anniversary September 18. Linda is also survived by two sons, David (Natalie) and Erik (Heather), six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will celebrate her life with a graveside service Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Joe Palmer and Rev. Owen Atha officiating.
