Linnie Tanner Revels, age 98, of Hazlehurst passed away November 18th at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home after and extended illness. She was a native of Coffee County but had lived most of her life in Bacon County. Linnie was daughter of the late John Wesley Tanner and Lou Taylor Tanner; she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Gordon Revels, a son, Bobby Revels, five brothers, Archie, Marvin, Carlton (Buddy), Charlton and Wesley Tanner, three sisters, Clevon Tanner Taylor, Minnie Stewart and Lanner Jent and a son- in law, Michael Jipson.
Survivors include three daughters, Annette Thomas and husband Rev. Sidney of Nicholls, Linda (Dottie) Creech and husband Buck of Hazlehurst and Shirley Marie Jipson of Alma, fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 21st at 11:00 AM at Wesley Chapel Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Sidney Thomas and Rev. Jason Hutto officiating. The body will be carried to the church at 10:00 AM to lie in state. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening between 6 and 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Billy H. Taylor, Rodney Cothern, Larry Hersey, Perry Thomas, Johnnie Ray Revels and Teddy Williams. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
