Lonnie Gaston Gillis, age 81, passed away May 28, 2026, at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born June 29, 1944, in Coffee County to the late Jesse Gaston Gillis and Frances Mills Gillis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Guthrie Gillis; grandson, Thomas Gaston Walden; brother Jesse Gillis; sisters, Mary Whitley and Carrie Jean Thomas.

He retired from CSX Railroad as a machinist after many years of service. He was a member of Nicholls Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters, Beth Priddle (Scott) of Lisbon, ME, Ellen Trowell (Bruce) of Nicholls and Ella Martin (Chris) of Richmond, VA; sister, Berelle Harper of Douglas; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 04, 2026, at Nicholls Baptist Church at 2 PM with Rev. Rick Darby officiating. Interment will follow at Roberts Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Crosby Funeral Home Wednesday night from 6-9 PM.

Active pallbearers include Michael Martin, Hunter Martin, J.G. Gillis, Chris Martin, Michael Davis, and John Guthrie. Honorary pallbearers include Kyle Priddle, Kody Priddle, Teagen Trowell, and Tyler Walden, and in memoriam, Thomas Walden
