Lorraine P. Grooms, age 95, formally of Alma passed away July 21st at Riverside Health Care Center in Covington, Georgia. She was a native of Jeff Davis County and had lived in Alma for thirty-seven years before moving to Conyers, Georgia in 2010. Lorraine was born on July 9, 1921 to the late Thomas Archie Pearson and Ethel Wilcox Pearson; she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph "Joe" Waymon Grooms, Jr., a brother Quentin Pearson and two sisters Selma Carter and Opal Drummond. She was an avid cat lover, loved to cook and was a member of Alma First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son Jeff Grooms and wife Lynne of Conyers, Georgia, two grandchildren Heather Grooms Schwartz and husband Travis of Covington, Georgia and Brian Joseph Grooms and wife Sara of Atlanta, Georgia and two great-grandchildren Dawson and Shelby Schwartz of Covington, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23rd at 11:00 from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Wanda Wilcox officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday from 9:30 AM until funeral time.
