Louis Martinez, age 61, of Alma died early Saturday morning May 3 ^rd , 2014 at St. Vincents Hospital in Jacksonville after an extended illness.  He was a native of Jacksonville, FL but had lived in Alma for many years. He was son of the late Pete Martinez and Marie Spicer Martinez and was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Lynn Martinez.  Louis worked for the Fire Department for many years and was a member of New Vision Church.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Tammy Taylor Martinez of Alma, two sons, Ricky Bowers (Donna), D J Capps (Dezarea) both of Alma, three daughters, Allana Taylor (Shane), Kelli Boatright (Eric) both of Alma and Lisa Cato (Martin) of Douglas, a brother, Joe Martinez of Jacksonville, a sister Mary Goen (Charlie) of Tallahassee, twenty-four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Gore and Rev. Pet Hayes officiating.  Interment will follow in New Vision Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends between 6 and 9 P M Tuesday evening.

Active pallbearers will be, Bradley Taylor, Robert Taylor, Scotty Boatright, Dean Strickland, Brent White and Harvey Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Bacon County Fire & E M S Departments, Bacon County Sheriff Dept. and the Voulteer Fire Dept.
