Luther Taylor, age 81, of Alma passed away Thursday, May 22nd at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Elisha C. Taylor and Nancy Alice Taylor; was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Taylor, three brothers, Elmer C. Taylor, Eddie Lee Taylor and Oliver Taylor and three sisters, Thelma Ball, Lola Taylor and Lollie McKenzie. Luther was a Alma Police Officer and a farmer for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Luther Taylor (Donna) of Alma and Larry Jo Taylor of Baxley, one daughter, Frances Taylor of Alma, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 25th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. James Steed officiating. Interment will follow in Mercer Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Andy & Wendell Whitley, Jerald & Jeffery Anderson, Tommy James Taylor and Shane Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be; Pete Lee, Joey Anderson, Lester, Lee & Larry Simmons, Ronnie Boatright, Wayne Williams, Gene Davis, Bobby Hart, Lorenzo & Fred Hand, Jack Tanner, Dr. Charles Bagley, Dr. Harrison Carter, Dr. Glen Moore, Jay Williams, Milford, Jerry & Buster Anderson, Donnie Altman, John Wheeler, Roger Johnson, Jerry Bennett, James Stewart, Dale Morris, Twin Oaks Nursing Home Staff and Bacon County Hospital ICU Unit.
