Macy McKenzie, age 84, of Alma died early Sunday morning October 11th, 2015 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Alma after an extended illness. She was a native of Appling County but had lived most of her life in Bacon County. She was daughter of the late Archie Henry Hardrick and Annie Seville Stewart Hardrick and was preceded in death by her husband Bill McKenzie, Sr., daughter-in-law Velma McKenzie, six brothers and four sisters. Worked with the Bacon County School System and had served as Bailiff of Bacon County for many years and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son Bill McKenzie, Jr. of Alma, two daughters Gloria Deen of Alma, Brenda Haselden (Don) of Alma, six grandchildren Dalona Moore, Konya Carter, Renda Cardenas, Jamie Curl, Amanda Jordan and Cam McKenzie. Also eleven great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 o'clock at Big Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Davis and Rev. Mark Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 P M Tuesday to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening between 6 and 9 P M.
Active pallbearers will be Neal Murphy, Gene Vickers, Lonnie Whitley, Wayne Nall, Danny Giddens and Max Tillman. Honorary will be Verlene Johnson, Eliza Ellis, Edith Johnson, Mary Rewis, Margie Davis, Carla Taylor, Joyce Giddens and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
