Madeline L. Sweat, age 88, Alma passed away Monday, February 23rd at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late Quincy Lee and Adele Kirkland Lee and preceded in death by her husband Hilton Sweat, a sister, Unity Lee Sweat and two brothers, Daniel Lee and L.H. "Buddy" Lee. She was a member of Lee's Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Paul Sweat (Barbara) of Alma, five brothers, Russell Lee (Joyce) of Callahan, FL., Ronnie Lee (Laveen) of Alma, David "Piker" Lee of Alma, Quitman Lee (Betty) of Waresboro, Ga. and Steve Lee (Carolyn) of Alma, one sister, Bobbie Lee Johnson of Alma and 2 grandchildren, Angela Sweat and Jamie Sweat (Julie) of Alma and 3 great-grandchildren, Amber, James and Jacob Sweat of Alma.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 25th at 11:00 AM at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Delk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Kenny Ray, David Giraldo, Steven Lee, Ron Lee, Willie Jeffery, Jodie and Bodie Johnson. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
