Mae Meeker Rhoads, age 96, of Dublin Virginia passed away Monday, April 11th at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County and daughter of the late John Riley Meeker and Mamie Smith Meeker. Mae was preceded in death by her husband George James Rhoads, daughter Dr. Gail Stone, a sister Elizabeth Clyburn and a brother John Riley Meeker. She was a Telephone Operator at the Alma Telephone Company and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford, Virginia.

Survivors include a son, James Riley (Sandy) Rhoads and wife Deborah of Dublin, VA, two grandchildren George James Rhoads (Nadia) of Jacksonville, FL. and Leigh Strelka (Tommy) of Roanoke, VA., two great-grandchildren, Vivienne & Griffith Strelka of Roanoke, VA., sister in law, Beatrice Roppe Rhoads of Jacksonville, FL. and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Ersell Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving at the funeral from 1:00 PM until funeral time.
