Magdalene Cothern Sears, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on April 18, 2026, after an extended illness. She was born March 04,1935, to the late James Alvin Cothern and Martha Leona Scott Cothern. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sears; her brothers, James Hubert, Gilbert Winfield, and David Ezekiel Cothern; sisters, Florence Jean Nall and Dorothy “Dot” Raulerson; and grandson, Colby Stephen Moore.

She was a member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church for many years.

She is survived by her sons, Mitch Sears (Teresa) and Lee Sears (Michelle); daughters, Carol Martin and Gail Moore (Carl); sisters, Nadine Crosby and Martha Wade; brother, Don Cothern ( Martha). Eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday April 20, 2026, at 4 PM at Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Delk, Rev. Mike Lee, and Rev. John Sasser officiating. Interment will follow at Lee’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6-8 PM.

Active pallbearers include Rusty Sears, Casey Hardy, Josh Sears, Jonathan Sears, Seth Knight, Asher Boatright, and Connor Boatright. Honorary pallbearers include Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church Sunday School Class, and Tammy and Noah Howell.
