Martha Smith Wilson Gillyard age 78 of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, following a lengthy illness. Ms. Gillyard was a native of Mershon, Georgia. She was born on New Year's Day 1935, to the late Lester and Lillian Dixon Smith.
Ms. Gillyard resided in Jacksonville, Florida, for the past 60 years. She is survived by her sisters Lawanna Lee (Earl) Jacksonville and her twin Mary Davis (Marion) of Axson, Georgia. She was a loving mother to William H. Wilson, Denise Wilson Rukab (Ricky), Christopher Wilson, Lorraine Gillyard Howell and Audrey Gillyard Dunn, all of Jacksonville. Ms. Gillyard was the proud grandmother of Stevie Dunn, Justin Howell (deceased), Mikey Hubbard, Douglas Dunn, and Rachel Rukab. She was also aunt to several loving nieces and nephews.
A loyal Georgia Bulldog fan, Ms Gillyard enjoyed cheering her team to many victories.
Visitation will be Friday, December 20th at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home in Alma, Ga. and funeral will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. Crosby Funeral Home in Alma, Ga. are in charge of arrangements.
