Obituary

Marvin Crawford, Jr. age 80 of Alma died suddenly Wednesday evening April 23 rd , 2014 at his home.  He was a native of Auburn AL but had lived in Alma the past 62 years.  Marvin was son of the late Marvin Crawford, Sr. and Everline Bickerstaff Crawford and was also preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Crawford, 3 sisters, Peggy Crawford, Jeanie Pearl Wright and Alice Thomas.  Marvin worked at Farmers Enterprise for 30 years, D L Lee and Sons for 15 years and was presently working with the Bacon County School System.

Survivors include five daughters, Zola Perkins of Auburn, AL, Lenora Welch (Clifford) of Hoboken, Marietta Smiley, Shelvie Vickers (Hosea) and Alle Newson all of Alma.  Four sisters Estella Dunn, Maggie Nell Holyfield, Willie Mae Crowder and Eva Mae Hutchinson all of Auburn, AL.; Devoted and loving friend, Bernice Newson of Alma; also 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 27 th afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Zion Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jaylen Thomas, Elder Jackie Welch and Rev. Stephon Deen officiating.  Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.  The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 PM Sunday to lie in state.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday evening between 6 and 9 P M.

Active pallbearers will be, James White, William Hardy, Ronnie Foster, Larry Peterson, Adrian Brinson and Jason Carter. Faculty and Staff of the Bacon County School System will serve as honorary.
