Marvin Luther Ricketson, Jr. age 80, of Alma passed away February 14th at Baptist Village after an extended illness. He was a native of Akron, Ohio but had lived in Alma most of his life. Luther was son of the late Marvin Luther Ricketson, Sr. and Grace Waters Ridgon and preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Jack and Bill Ricketson. He served in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Sherry Bradford Ricketson of Alma, a son, Carlton Ricketson (Sherry) of Harrison, TN., two daughters, Jeramy Tanner (Ricky) of Hazlehurst and Janet Gill (Kevin) of Jacksonville, FL., three step children, Zack Bennington (Bridgette) of Valdosta, Suzanne Roach (Boone) of Rossville, Ga. and Lesley Teel (Garrett of Opelika, AL., six half sisters, Gertha Lee Brubaker of Cuyahoga Falls, OH., Martha Ann Watson of Gainesville, Ga., Latrelle Turner of Jacksonville, FL., Laverne Larisey of Waycross, Shirley Davis of Blackshear and Margaret Harris of Boydton, VA. and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Crosby officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery with military honors. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Randy Voiner, D. L. Cothern, Bradley Taylor, Mike Lee, Earl Music and Billy Ray Dyal. Classmates will serve as honorary escorts.
