Mary Magdalene Brown, age 74, of Nicholls passed away February 19th at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native of Coffee County but had lived in Ware County most of her life. Mary was daughter of the late Horace Whitley and Mary Elizabeth Clement Whitley; preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James William (Pete) Brown, two brothers, Horace Eugene Whitley and Paul Monroe Whitley and a sister, Linda Faye Whitley. She was retired from the Ware County Board of Education after 30 years and a member of Newbern Baptist Church in Ware County.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Dianna Altman (David) & Jeanie Marie Brown, one sister, Rhoda Mae Lane, three grandchildren, Jason Altman, Lacey Conley all of Nicholls and Mandy Harwood of Blairsville, Ga. and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23rd at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Monroe Gill, Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. Ronnie Foster officiating. Interment will follow in Bagley Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening between 6 and 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Leon Whitley, Perry & Richard Mixon, Randy & Willie Bagley, Chris & Don Dorminey and Brian Conley. Honorary pallbearers will be; Julian Dorminey, Gene Brown & Edgar Dyal.
