Obituary

Mary Ann Carter, age 79, of Alma passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born November 11, 1944, in Martin County, Florida to Albert Pardee and Willa Mae Fenley Summy.

Mrs. Carter was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and was a member of Southside Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Carter, brother, Jerry Summy and sister, Barbara Summy. Survivors include her son, Mark P. Carter (Sue); two grandchildren, Kenny Carter (Meagan) and Mark Carter; three great-grandchildren, Lee, Mia & Briar Carter; three brothers, Kip Pardee (Darlene), Raymond Summy (Florence) and Billy Summy; two sisters, Thelma Jean Kennedy (Bill) and Rosalie Griffis.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 2 PM, at the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home, with Rev. R.M. Warren, Rev. David Deen, and Bro. Howard Henderson officiating.   Active pallbearers will be Orvil Lewis, Mark Carter, Kenny Carter, Gary Turner, Ronnie Snipes, Tommy Lee and Berna Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Nails, JoAnn Barber, and members of Southside Church of God. Interment will conclude in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday night from 6-9 PM.

Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
