Mary Evelyn Lee Hyers, age 71, of Alma passed away Thursday October 5, 2017 at the Satilla Hospice House in Waycross after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Lemuel Sellers "Kit" and Lourine Yawn Lee, a former employee of Oxford Industries, The Bacon County Hospital, and had the distinction of being the 1st Female County Commissioner in Bacon County. Her husband Malcom Hyers, son Michael Hyers, brother Eugene Lee, and stepfather Quincy Lee also precede her in death.

Survivors include her daughter Teresa Sears (Mitch), daughter in-law Tracy Hyers, brother Franklin Lee, 7 grand children, 5 great grand children, and several half brothers, half sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Delk officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kit, Lemuel, Jeff, Steven, Ron, and Hunter Lee. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escort. The family will be receiving friends Friday night from 6-9 PM at Crosby Funeral Home.
