Mary Cloette Johnson, age 76, of Hortense died at the Southeast Georgia Medical Center in Brunswick Wednesday evening July 31st, 2013 after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County but had lived in Brantley County since 1976. She was daughter of the late James Barton Medders and Carrie Lee Curl Medders and preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Johnson, six brothers, Walter, Kenneth, Billy Joe, Charlie (Bug), Don and Wayne Medders, two sisters, Leecell Mercer and Lucille Herndon. Cloette was a member of Lulaton Baptist Church in Brantley County.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Robert (Joey) Taylor (Anita) of Brunswick, two daughters, Sylvia Lane Lewis of Hortense, Lisa McKinney (Stephen) of Brunswick, two sisters, Rebecca (Beck) Medders (Bobby) of Alma, Louise Crosby of Baxley, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock at Lulaton Baptist Church with Rev. Monroe Gill officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma. The body will be carried to the church Saturday morning at 10:00 A M to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening between 6 and 9 P M.
Active pallbearers will be, Henry, Timmy and David Medders, Wayne Hart, Eddie Carter and Ricky Clark, Sr. Nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
