Mary Elizabeth Lewis, age 95, of Alma passed away February 4, 2022 at the Bacon County Hospital after a short illness. Born in Bacon County on September 13, 1926 to Jimmy Estell Taylor and Alma McDonald Taylor.  Mrs. Lewis was a member of Old Pine Grove Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Lewis; son Ben Lewis, III, daughter, Mary Sue Tyre; brothers, Randall Taylor and Ken Taylor and sisters, Christine Taylor, Ula Jean Taylor and Eliza L. Ellis.  Survivors include two daughters, Janice Helton and Kathy Lee (Jimmy) of Alma; daughter-in law, Pam Lewis of Fayetteville, brothers, Virgil Taylor (Mildred) and Jerry Taylor (Glenda); sisters, Marie Barefoot (Joe) and Criss Lee Jarrard of Alma; also 65 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Cox and Rev. Kenny Ellis officiating.  Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Kip O'Quinn, Jeff Trye, Ben Lewis, IV, Kristopher O'Quinn, Cory Lee and Joe Barefoot, II. Honorary pallbearers will be; Dr. Harrison Carter and Staff and all others in attendance.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
