Mary Lucy Tanner, age 74, of Alma passed away Thursday, February 25th at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late Herbert Traub Douglas and Maggie Tanner Douglas and preceded in death by a brother, Herbert "Bud" Douglas. She was a member of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Ray Tanner (Kimberly) of Naylor, GA. and Jonathan Herbert Tanner of Woodstock, GA., two daughters, Myra Tanner Sellers (Shorty) and Cynthia Tanner Thomas both of Alma, one brother, Terry Frank Douglas of Alma, three sisters, Dixie Faye Douglas of Alma, Molly Ruth Harris Leonardtown, MD and Sandra Manning Stewart of Calhoun, GA., 5 grandchildren, Mara Thomas Kapp, Steven Thomas, Collin & Paxton Sellers and Ryan Tanner and 2 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Marissa Kapp.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 1st at 1:00 PM at the Douglas Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Stone officiating and eulogy will be given by: Jonathan Tanner. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Terry Douglas, Steven Thomas, Collin Sellers, Dale Douglas, Shorty Sellers and Mack Douglas. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
