Mary Alice Stafford, age 87, of Alma passed away Monday night Feburary 24th at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was a native of Long County (Ludowici) but had lived in Bacon County for the past 67 years. Mary Alice was daughter of the late Harry T. Baker and Myrtice McGowan Baker and preceded in death by her husband Allen Beryl Stafford, and two sisters, Harriette Stafford and Monnie B. Johnston. She was retired from the City of Alma as City Clerk after 29 years and was a member of Alma United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Fricks (Charles R.) of Morrow, GA. and Brenda Boyd (Craig) of Valdosta, GA., 5 grandchildren, Charles Robert Fricks II (Joy) of McDonough, GA., Bryan Fricks (Dena) of Powder Springs, GA., Major Samuel Fricks (Virginia) of Colorado Springs, CO., Candice Lehman (Troy) of Lake Park, GA. and Alice Carter (Chris) of Conyers, GA., and 10 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1st at 2:00 PM at the Alma United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Crosby and Rev. Heyward Hiers officiating. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 PM to lie in state. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 9 PM
Active pallbearers will be; Billy Futch, Wayne Williams, Curtis Taylor, Zach Johnson, Bradley Taylor, John Taylor and Kimmie Sasser. Honorary pallbearers will be; Pathfinders Sunday School Class.
