Maurice Eugene "M.E." Smith, Sr. age 88, of Alma passed away Saturday (September 10, 2022) at the Bacon County Hospital after a short illness.  Mr. Smith was born in Ware County to the late Cecil Jack Smith and Manonia Lee Smith and made Alma his home most of his life. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Bickley.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Kay R. Smith and sister, Charlotte Rose Hicks.

Mr. Smith is survived by four children, Maurice Eugene "Gene" Smith, Jr. and wife Margaret, Keith Smith and wife Lori, Julie Taylor and husband Terry and Adam Smith and wife Lori; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held for Mr. Smith Friday (September 16, 2022) at 11:00 AM at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Bickley.
