Melissa "Lissie" Conner, age 77, of Alma passed away June 6, 2024 at Vista Park Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born December 7, 1946 in Bacon County to the late James Willie Lee Johnson and Dolora Rigdon Johnson.

Mrs. Melissa was a member of Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gene Conner; brother, George Lawton Johnson and two sisters, Zenith Brewer and Willene Carter. Survivors include two children, James "Jody" Conner (Belinda) of Waynesboro and Nancy Anne Conner of Alma; three grandchildren, Kaitlin McClellan, Jacob McClellan and James Conner; brother, Chester Johnson of Jacksonville and sister, Elizabeth Mattson of Savannah; sister-in-law's, Jane Johnson, Carolyn Varnadore and JoAnn Barber and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday (June 11, 2024) at 11:00 AM at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Michael McClintock officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Mike Carter, Bill Bryant, Brent Johnson, Joey Anderson, Jon Cason and Clint Johnson. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
