Obituary
Melvin S. Groover, age 72, of Nicholls passed away Wednesday, October 22nd at the Hospice House in Waycross after an extended illness. He was a native of Coffee County, son of the late Sylvester Groover and Mozelle Hand Groover and was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Groover and step-brother, Willie Turner.
Melvin served in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Groover of Nicholls, three sons, Billie Joe Groover (Deanna) of Warner Robbins, Dewaine Groover and Reggie Groover (Paula) of Nicholls, step son, David Burkes of Fernandina Beach, FL., two daughters, Carol Bodiford (Bobby) of Osteen, FL, Lisa Russell (Kenny) of Jacksonville, FL and a step-daughter, Kim Burke of St. George, FL., brother, Wilson Groover of Elizabeth City, IN., two sisters, Mary Tucker of Winter Haven, FL. and Louise Turner of Hilliard, FL., also 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren survive.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 25th at 1:00 PM at Mr. Melvin's residence 1103 Peachtree Rd Nicholls, GA. 31554.
Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
