Milton Avery Tanner, age 79, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27th at the Jacksonville Nursing and Rehab after a short illness. He was a native of Coffee County but had lived in Jacksonville for many years. Milton was son of the late Daniel Archie Tanner and Dorothy Mazelle Meeks Tanner and preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, Jim and Ronnie "Wayne" Tanner. He served in the US Army for 2 years.
Survivors include a brother, Frank Tanner of Jesup, Ga. and four sisters, Winifred Pope of Hilliard, Florida, Faye Thomas of Waycross, Ga., Irma Delos Santos of Houston, TX. and Carrie Bratka of Alma, Ga.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2nd at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Shiver officiating and eulogy will be given by Alan Pope. Interment will follow in Forest Grove Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Frank Tanner, Jr., Dillon Tanner, Charles Gibson, Barry Tanner, Bryant Tanner, Scotty Shiver and Carl Mathis and Dustin Mathis. All others in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers.
