Minnie Joyce Meeks, age 76, of Nicholls passed away Thursday, March 10th at the Bacon County Hospital after and extended illness. She was daughter of the late Joe " Author" Lumley, Jr. and Lorenne Brinson Lumley and was preceded in death by a son, George Lamar Smith, two brothers, Jimmy and Johnny Lumley and two sisters, Floramae Steptoe and JoAnn Smith. Joyce was a member of Wesley Chapel " Wolf Pit" Church.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Herbert Meeks of Nicholls, three sons, Randy Smith (Billie) of Alma and Roy Smith (Linda) of Swainsboro, GA. and Danny Meeks (Narda) of Gainesville, GA., six daughters, Debbie Smith of Broxton, Venus Barton (Derek) of Warner Robbins, Vickie Rewis (Carroll) of Alma, Gay Brooks (Nathan) of Blackshear, Sherry Ponder and Julie Harper (Carroll) of Douglas, one sister, Jearldene Bracewell of Dublin, GA.; also 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12th at 2:00 PM at Wesley Chapel " Wolf Pit" Church with Rev. T.F. Yawn and Rev. Danny Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1:00 PM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Jeremy Hawkins, Blake & Dexter Meeks, Kyle and Klent Rewis and Willis Courson. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
