Modine "Deenie" Boatright, age 86, of Alma passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Ware County on September 10, 1930 to Eli Edward Thompson and Edith Myrtle Nails Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis David (F.D.) Boatright, two sons, Eddie Miles and Robby Jay Miles, seven brothers, Durward, Bobby, Jimmy and Burnard Thompson, Jimmy Aleen Nails, Franklyn Thompson and Don Nails and three sisters, Ellen Hough, Dot Abraham and Hazel Echols.
Survivors include three children, John Eugene Waters of Orland, Florida, Ricky Mercer Perteet of Statham, Georgia and Celia Gail Sanders (Randall) of Statham, Georgia, two sisters, Connie Cantrell of Alabama and Donnie Girl Morris of Jacksonville, Florida; also 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. R.B. Gaskins officiating . Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until funeral time.
Active pallbearers will be; Randall Sanders, Jerry Miles, Michael Roppe, Marty Abraham, Terry Stringer, and Ricky Perteet, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nursing Staff of the Pavilion in Baxley, GA.
