Moniqua (Monie) Brown, age 80, of Alma died early Tuesday morning September 9th, 2014 at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late Sidney Taylor and Opal Carter Taylor and was also preceded in death by her husband, Myron Lester Brown, daughter-in-law, Dorie L. Brown, son-in-law Raymond Joseph Stacey. Monie was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include two sons, Tim S. Brown of Alma, Terry Lee Brown (Faith) of Alma, three daughters, Kim Skiffington (Wilfred) of Lawton, OK, Julie Myra Messer (Thomas) of St. Cloud, FL, June Marie Taylor (Jimmy) of Alma, step-daughter, Tracy Barnes of Tunica, MS. Also 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alma with President Ricky McDowell, Elder Tucker Hunsaker, Brother Robert Taylor, Brother Jerry Knowlton, Brother William Wildes, Jimmy Taylor and Brother Ed Worthington officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylor Cemetery on Radio Station Road in Alma. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening between 6 and 9 P M. The body will be carried to the church Saturday at 10:00 A M to lie in state.
Active pallbearers will be, Elder Utah Lambert, Shawn Brown, Averi Lance, Joshua Brown, Ryan Sheehy, Brett Sheehy, Aaron Sheppard and Tyler Sellers. Honorary will be, Larry Hardy, Eddie Butts, Dr. Michael Deen, Jimmy Taylor and Brian Porter.
