Murle Lightsey Martin, age 77, of Alma passed away Wednesday, November 18th at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Appling County but had lived most of her life in Alma. Murle was daughter of the late Lorace C. Lightsey and Murris Jackson Lightsey and was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Martin, two sons, Danny Scott Martin and Ferrell Martin, a brother Carroll Lightsey and two sisters, Betty Sue Aupperle and Liz Carter. She was a member of Southside Church of God.
Survivors include three children, Greg Martin (Susan) of Orange Park, Florida, Randy Martin (Sonja) of Alma and Rhonda Gail Kaeck (Steve) of Alma, two sisters, Cardine Watson and Kathleen Herndon of Jacksonville, FL., four grandchildren, Blake Martin (Jennifer), Berry Martin (Nicole), Sky Kaeck and Cheyenne Taylor and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Carver, Rev. Robert Varnadore and Rev. R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Southside Church of God Building Fund 102 Taylor Road Alma, Georgia 31510.
Active pallbearers will be; Ron Boatright, Eddie Crapps, Bryson Moody, Roy Denny Lee, Jerry Boatright and Bruce Burnette. Honorary pallbearers will be; Georgia State Patrol Active and Retired, Ruby & Gail White, Dwight & Sandra Sellers, Otto & Dot Johnson, Larry & Miriam Williams, B.J. & Lucy Harrelson, Roger & Joy Boatright, George & Jane Johnson, Betty Lee, Linda Rowland, Elois Tanner, Ben Johnson, Louis & James Davis, John & Cora Wells, Pee Wee & Deanne Flanders, Twin Oaks Nursing Home staff and David Dudley.
