Nelda Faye Cothern, age 69, of Alma died late Thursday night May 14th, 2015 at Mayo Clinic in Waycross after a short illness. She was a native of Bacon County, daughter of the late Doris Rewis and Theodus Williams Rewis and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Sue Crummey and a brother Carthell Rewis. Nelda Faye was a charter member of Southside Church of God.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Benny Cothern of Alma, two daughters, Brenda Gail Harrell (Kendall) of Alma, Jamie Rena' Tyre (Jeffrey) of Alma, a brother, Wendell Rewis (Kathy) of Alma, two sisters, Audrey Spell (Albert) of Alma, Wilma Dyal (Quitman) of Alma, four grandchildren, Dusty Cothern, Trey Crummey, Tyler Weaver and Megan Bezonia.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 o'clock at Southside Church of God with Rev. Mark Carver and Rev. Billy Mac Dyal officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Level Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the Southside Church of God Saturday evening between 6 and 9 P M. The body will be carried back to the church Sunday at 2:00 P M to lie in state.
Active pallbearers will be, Niki Fossett, R H Dixon, Neil Medders, Fred Bezonia, Sr., Junior Stokes and Sammy Walton. Honorary will be members of the Southside Senior Adult Sunday School Class and members of the Ladies Ministries of Southside.
