Nelda Faye Turner, age 89, of Alma died Friday January 27th, 2017 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home. She was a native of Bacon County daughter of the late Alfred Deen and Dessie Carter Deen and was also preceded in death by her husband James L (Monk) Turner, two grandchildren Clint and Will Turner, a brother James C. (Buck) Deen and a daughter in law, Phyllis Scott Turner. Nelda Faye was a member of the New Lacy Church of God.
Survivors include three sons Jimmy Turner, Roger Turner, Rev. Randy Turner (Diane) all of Alma, two daughters Bonnie Sue Jordan (Benny) of Alma, Connie Milhollin (Kyle) of Douglas, five brothers Harold Deen, Charles Deen both of Callahan, FL, Kenneth Deen of Columbus, GA, Donald Deen and Larry Deen both of Alma. a sister Winona Barber of Callahan, FL. Also eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 30th at 1:00 o'clock at New Lacy Church of God with Rev. Stan Long, Rev. R B Gaskins and a eulogy by her son, Rev. Randy Turner. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening between 6 and 8 P M. The body will be carried to the church Monday at 12 noon to lie in state.
Active pallbearers will be Shawn Turner, Trapus Turner, Teddy Varnedore, Michael Stokes, Colby Turner and Brandon Deen. All others in attendance will be considered as honorary.
