Obituary

Rev. Norman Sweeting, age 86, of Adel passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 30th at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Waycross. He was a native of Helden, New Jersey but had been living in Adel, Georgia. Norman was son of the late William Sweeting and Mary Rodger Irving and preceded in death by a brother, William Sweeting. He has been a Minister for many years and was preaching at Douglas Chapel Baptist Church here in Alma when he passed away. He was a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Amelia Mae Sweeting of Adel, Ga., four sons, Norman Paul Sweeting (Beck) of Augusta, Ga., Stephen Mark Sweeting (Avis) of Geneva, New York, David Jonathan Sweeting (kitty) of Cincinnati, OH., and Rodger Irvine Sweeting (Gena) of Whitehall, MI., a daughter, Nancy Jean New (Ross) of Alma, one brother, George Sweeting (Margaret) of Antioch, IL., three sisters, Ann Halma of Patterson, NJ., Mary Yarrington (Bob) of Pennsylvania and Martha Thompson (Tom) of New Jersey; also 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren survive.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 8th at 1:00 PM at Douglas Chapel Baptist Church.
