Olin E. Rewis, age 74 of Alma passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 at his residence under the care of Hospice Satilla after an extended illness. He was born in Alma, Georgia on July 4, 1949 to the late Howard Rewis and Iva Lee Taylor Rewis. Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by a brother Jimmy Rewis.
Mr. Rewis was retired from Acme TV after 40 years of employment. He was a member of the Bacon County High School Class of 1968. He was a member of Alma Southside Church of God where he faithfully served as the sound technician for many years before declining health.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Linda Sue Cothren Rewis of Alma, GA; one son, Stacy Rewis (Tori) of Gadsden, AL; two daughters, Dawn Thomas (Calvin) and Lori Screws (Reggie) both of Alma, GA; ten grandchildren, Savannah Rewis of Boaz, AL, Taylor Rewis, Tristian Rewis, Jada Dunn, and Bryant Dunn of Gadsden, AL, Faith Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Alivia Wilson (Weslee), Maylee Screws and Maverick Screws all of Alma, GA; one great-grandson, Sawyer Rewis of Boaz, AL. Five brothers, Gerald Rewis (Brenda) of Cedar Crossing, GA, Johnny Rewis (Sheila), Danny Rewis (Vickie) of Alma, GA, Mike Rewis (Gina) of Nicholls, GA, and Randy Rewis (Theresa) of Broxton, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Alma Southside Church of God with Rev. Jimmy Cothren, Rev. David Deen and Rev. R. M. Warren officiating. Eulogy will be given by Calvin Thomas. Interment will follow at Campground Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be: Stacy Rewis, Calvin Thomas, Reggie Screws, Joshua Thomas, Tristian Rewis, Maverick Screws, Weslee Wilson, and Daniel Rewis. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bacon County High School Class of 1968, Dr. Prasanna Srinagesh and Staff of Fresenius Dialysis Center of Alma, Dr. Harrison C. Carter and Staff, Jerry L. Taylor, Wendell Hayes, Ashley Miles, Alex Cisneros , J. W. Swain, James and Patsy Smart, Ricky Altman and Shane Howell.
Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
