Oliver Varnadore, Jr., age 78, of Alma passed away August 7, 2026 at his residence in Glennville after an extended illness. He was born in Bacon County March 17, 1948 to the late Oliver Varnedore, Sr. and Doris Cannon Varnedore.

Mr. Varnadore served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired from Milliken and Company after many years and was also a longtime farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Terry Lee Newson, sister, Arlene Varnedore, brother, Randy Varnedore and brother-in-laws, Rev. Wayne Hayes and Billy James. Survivors include his daughter, Millie Newson; two grandchildren, LeeAnna Lee (Brandon) and Torrey Bohannon, one great granddaughter, Olivia Lee, brother, Tim Varnedore (Karen); sisters, Marian James and JoAnn Hayes and a host of people who called him Papa, Pops, Dad, Daddy or Mr. Fred.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
