Omer Larry Deen, age 74, of Mershon died Saturday May 27th, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County son of the late Alfred Deen and Dessie Carter Deen and was also preceded in death by a brother Buck Deen and a sister Nelda Turner. Larry was County Road Superintendent for Bacon County for many years and a member of New Lacy Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Genethel Williams Deen of Mershon, a son Earnie Alfred (AL) Deen of Leesburg, GA, a daughter Gina Thomas (Scottie) of Nicholls, four brothers Donald Deen of Alma, Charles Deen of Jacksonville, Harold Deen (Annette) of Jacksonville, Kenny Deen (Bobbie) of Columbus, GA, a sister Winona Barber of Jacksonville, two grandchildren Tyler and Bentley Thomas of Nicholls.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock at New Lacy Church of God with Rev. Stan Long and Rev. R B Gaskin officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery on Highway 203. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening between 6 and 9 P M. the body will be carried to the church Wednesday at 1:00 P M to lie in state.
Active pallbearers will be Al Deen, Ricky Deen, Tracy Deen, Joe Wright, Kevin Foster and Keith Kelley. All others in attendance will be considered as honorary escort.
