Opal Geneva Reeves "The Moose Lady", age 63, of Alma died July 4th, 2017 after an extended illness. Opal was a native of Coffee County and the daughter of the late Richard Skinner and Emma Tucker Streat. Opal is also preceded in death by a grandson Heath Reeves, brother Jack Skinner, father in-law Barto Reeves and her mother in-law Mazie Ellis.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years Donald Reeves Sr. of Alma, son Donald Reeves Jr. (Regina) of Blackshear, brother Richard "Bud" Skinner of Alma, sisters Lois Virginia Turner of Alma, Nellie Lee Streat of Nicholls, and Leana Mae Mercer of Axson, four grandchildren, Gage Hickox, Dillion Reeves, Wesley Reeves and Lilly Reeves and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 8th at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. R.B. Gaskins and Rev. Roger Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday night from 6-9 pm
Active pallbearers will be; Bradley Anderson, Vince Mahony, Tony Durance, Robert Altman, Jeff Taylor, and Jimmy Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be; Jim Nipper, Sean Mahony, James Mahony, and Troy Jerrideau.
