Patricia Wood Carter, age 64, passed away January 20, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness. She was born June 18, 1961, in Bacon County to the late Dewey Wood and Maudie Richardson Wood. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Leah McRea; sisters, Ginger Kuehner and Catherine Moorefield; brothers, Rodney, Dewey, Ricky Sr., Grady, David, and John Wood.

She is survived by her son, Brandon Hayes; sister, Carolyn Towns and Michelle Herndon (Jerry); brother, Billy Creamer (Lillian); two granddaughters, Jaina Taylor and Maci Hayes; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2 PM in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Scotty Herndon and Rev. Jerry Herndon officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1 PM until service time.

Active pallbearers include Dyson Lee, Issac Moses, Trey Walker, Casey Mattox, Dusty Bennett and Trent Wood . All others in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
