Paul Edward Sweat, age 72, of Alma passed away March 2, 2024 at Bacon County Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Sweat was born in Bacon County to the late Oscar Hilton Sweat and Madeline Lee Sweat. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, he was supervisor of D L & Sons for many years and a member of Lees Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Purvis Sweat. Survivors include two children, Jamie Paul Sweat and wife Julie and Angela Lee Sweat; three grandchildren, Amberly Sweat, James Sweat and Jacob Sweat all of Alma.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (March 6, 2024) at 2:00 PM at Lees Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Delk and Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday at the church from 12:30 PM until service time.

Active pallbearers will be Dustin Lee, David Giraldo, Ron Lee, Chad Lee, Kenney Ray and Trampus Turner. The Bacon County Class of 1969 will serve as honorary escorts.
