Obituary

Peggy Gurley Carter, age 68, of Alma passed away February 3, 2024 at Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. She was born February 24, 1955 in Bacon County.  She was preceded in death by her father, Junior Earl Gurley and brother, David Gurley.

Mrs. Peggy was a member of Old Pine Grove Church.

Survivors include her mother, Othedias "tootsie" Holton Gurley; her husband of 32 years, Bradford Carter of Alma; five children, Kristy Cartledge (Cabe), Jessica "Kojack" Jones (David "Tex") of Alma, Matt Carter of Hazlehurst, Josh Carter (Cindy) of Columbus and Christina Carter of Hazlehurst; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Bishop R. B. Gaskins, Rev. Randy Cox and Rev. David Deen officiating. Interment will follow in Old Pine Grove Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:00 PM until service time.

Active pallbearers will be; Audie Holton, Drake Bloodworth, J. R. Jones, Bubba Simmons, Darrell Griffin, Michael Todd, Chase Taylor and Chris Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be; Alex Cisneros, Alicia Hyers, Charlie Warnock and members of Old Pine Grove Church.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
