Polie Matthew Elrod, age 95, of Alma passed away on November 4, 2020 at Memorial Satilla Health after an extended illness. He was born on September 25, 1925 in Pierce County to Levi Elrod and Hattie Cordell Elrod. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Simmons Elrod and daughter, Juanita Elrod.

Mr. Elrod served in the US Navy during WWII, retired from Appling Gas Company after 30 years.  He was also a member of the Bacon County Masonic Lodge #56 and a member of New Hope Southern Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include three children, John Elrod and wife Patsy of Clayton, NC., Mark Elrod of Alma and Patricia Knowlton and husband Jerry of Cheyenne, WY., four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be on Monday, November 9 ^th at 11:00 AM at New Hope Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the cemetery from 10:00 AM until funeral time.
