Purvis  Varnadore, age 84, of Nicholls passed away June 8, 2023 at his home in Bickley (Nicholls, GA) after a short illness.

He was born February 1, 1939 to Clifford and Vera Varnadore. Purvis graduated from Waycona School in 1958. He attended Victory Chapel Baptist Church with his wife Joanne.  He had been employed as a sewing machine operator most of his life in the surrounding sewing factories.

In addition to his parents Purvis was preceded in death by two sisters, Lavonne Vaughn and Jeanette Wilcox and a step grandson, Arron Putman. Survivors include his wife Joanne Varnadore of 24 years; two daughters, Ramona Music (husband Daniel) and Tammy Smith (husband Bobby); step daughters, Angela Horne and Maryanne Dent (husband Elmer); stepson, Larry Shiver, Jr; 2 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren and many great grandchildren; one sister, Linda Jackson; two brothers, Milton Varnadore (wife Nova) and Stacey Varnadore (wife Jo Ann); several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Nickell and Pastor Adam Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in the Bickley Community. The family will be receiving friends Saturday morning at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until service time.

Active pallbearers will be; Chris Shiver, Kevin Brigman, Taylor Jackson, Joey Scarborourgh, Josh Hatten and Mark Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be; Victory Baptist Church Adult Sunday School Class.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
