John Raymond Herring, age 77, passed away August 17, 2025, at Memorial Health in Savannah, GA, after a short illness. He was born September 4, 1947, in Coffee County, to the late Moses Herring and Margaret Vining Herring. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Wiles Herring, his two brothers and three sisters.

He served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

He was a retired diesel mechanic from Boatright Trucking.

He is survived by two sons, Steven Tate (Brittany) of Nicholls and Roy Tate of Tifton, GA; one daughter, Rosina Gray (Chet) of Lake City, FL; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Memorialization is by cremation.
