Rhonda Suzanne Simmons, age 52, of Alma passed away Saturday, October 3rd in Augusta Hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County and daughter of the late Wilton "Pete" Simmons. Rhonda is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edward and Bell Simmons and maternal grandparents, Eugene and Georgia Bell Mixon. She was a member of New Hope Southern Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Ann Mixon Simmons of Alma, a son, Peter Simmons of Alma, one brother, Randall Wilton Simmons, Sr. and wife (Cindy) of Alabama, a sister, Regina Diane Medders and husband Winky of Alma, and three nephews, Randal Wilton Simmons, Jr. (Ashley) of Savannah, Patrick Lee Simmons of Tallahassee, FL. and Austin Riley Medders of Alma.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 6th at New Hope Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Robert Varnadore and Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at New Hope Church Tuesday, October 6th from 12:00 PM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Mark Andrews, David Trowell, Dusty Andrews, Cheiss Crosby, Glenn Newberry, Scotty Burkett and Ricky Griffin. Members of New Hope Church will be considered honorary escorts.
