Ricky Wood, Sr., age 60, of Jesup died suddenly Thursday evening in Effingham County, GA. He was a native of Bacon County but had lived in Jesup the past 20 years. He was son of the late Dewey Wood and Maudie Lee Richardson Wood and was also preceded in death by a sister Ginger Kuehner and two brothers Rodney and Dewey Wood. Ricky was pastor of the New Vision of New Life (Garage Church) of Jesup and had served our country in the U S Army. Ricky was an avid hard worker and took much pride in his Life Time Works.

Survivors include his wife and loving soul mate for 17 years Tammy Hamilton Wood of Jesup, 7 sons Corey Wood (Jessica) of Screven, Ron Sweat (Racheal) of Jesup, Kevin Wood (Krystal) of Douglas, Jonathan Sweat of Jesup, Ricky Wood, Jr. (Kelley) of Douglas, Ryan Sweat (Aara) of Douglas, Daniel Sweat of Spartanburg, S C, a sister Jolene Bennett of Jesup, 4 brothers Johnny Wood (Tammy) of Brunswick, Grady Wood of Raleigh, N C, David Wood (Sheila) of Clayton, N C, Billy Creamer (Lillian) of Hazlehurst, 3 sisters Carolyn Towns of Waycross, Catherine Moorefield of Raleigh, N C, Patricia Carter (Rodney) of Alma and Michelle Herndon (Jerry) of Waycross. Ricky was also the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 P M from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Will Sloan, Rev. Jerry Herndon and eulogies by Michelle Herndon and son Corey Wood. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon between 2 P M and funeral time at 3:00 P M.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky Woods, Mickey Woods, Trent Wood, Corey Wood, Kevin Wood, Ricky Wood, Jr., Robbie Finch, Jason Priester and Ryan Sweat. All others in attendance will be considered as honorary pallbearers.
