Obituary

Rev. Riley E. Gill, age 86, of Alma passed away Sunday, August 10th at the Hospice House in Waycross after a short illness. He was a native of Pierce County but had lived in Alma for many years. Riley was son of the late Riley Allen Gill and Cora Mae Crosby Gill, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Johnson, his wives', Bertha Ivalee Walker Gill and Evelyn Black Turner Gill, four brothers, Alvin Gill, Clyde Allen Gill, James M. Gill and Thomas Gill and three sisters, Louise Elizabeth Gill, Isabelle Gill and Thedious Brown. Riley was carpenter and building contactor for many years, a minister for 55 years and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie Eldon Gill (Patty), two daughters, Susan Marline Cason (Jack) and Kathy Anderson (Randy) of Patterson, brother, Floyd Gill and sister, Diane Walker eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13th at 11:00 at Offerman Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Cason, Rev. Brian Gill, Rev. Michelle Herndon and Rev. Monroe Gill officiating. Interment will follow in Offerman Cemetery in Patterson. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening between 6 and 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will; Brad Anderson, Joshua & Zachary Cason, Joseph Austin, Mark Johnson and Richie Daniels. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
