Rita Mae Johnson, age 85, of Blythe Island passed away on October 12, 2021 at Southeast Georgia Health System after a brief illness. She was a native of Bacon County and daughter of the late Harvey Taylor and Ollie Taylor. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Wolf Pit.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ruffas Andrew Johnson; brothers, Merlon Taylor, Jim Taylor, Wesley Taylor and Cecil Tanner; sisters, Margie Meeks and Eulla Mae Meeks. Survivors include her son, James A. Johnson (Jean Cravey) of Blythe Island; five daughters, Darlene R. Wiggins (P.J) of Blythe Island, Denise Wendel (Steppard Green) of Brunswick, Diane Locklair (Andy) of Blythe Island, Debbie Timmons of Hortense and Donna Smith (Freddy) of Brunswick; sisters, Betty Jo Streat (Dewayne) and Eloise Tanner of Nicholls; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. T.F. Yawn officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening between 6 and 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Andrew Johnson, Terry Wendel, Larry Wendel, Christopher Fennel, Ethan Wendel, Phillip Smith, Michael Smith and Joshua Wiggins.

Crosby Funeral Home will  be in charge of arrangements.
